In this latest occasional series, I’ll be going through my experiences with a variety of drugs. I’ll be doing it in order too, from most recently-used to first-used.
Why drugs? Well, why not? They’re all around us and I’m hoping to add to the store of human knowledge, debunk some urban myths and maybe even provide something of a Frommer’s or Lonely Planet-type Guide. It won’t be encyclopaedic because my experiences don’t run the whole gamut. But you might find it interesting.
I’m expecting there to be some spirited commenting on the back end of all of this too. Lift up your voices!

Having never been into the drug scene, this will be a very interesting series.
I know someone who had an intensive course in recreational drug use in 1968 when sharing a hippie house in Paddington with 4 people who had the cash to be very indulgent.
My friend saw every type of ingestible drug ingested.
They were often the Straight Chaperone of daylight trippers.
When friends without a chaperone tripped in the Sydney Botanical Gardens and were arrested, my friend was sent to bail them out.
On a Sunday.
Cash only.
from The Phillip St watch-house.
It was a huge amount, and my friend used cash that was in the house waiting to pay for a kilo of the finest sensimillia.
Ha! plod wasn't ready for that one.
On the other hand, the arrestees deserved to be, as they had removed their clothes and were dancing fit to upset the Sunday picnic-ers.
Then they asked to borrow my friend's nice straight clothes for the court appearance.
Recreational drug use way back then appeared to be a harmless and gentle pastime involving a great deal of food and laughing.
Plod of course, was totally humourless about it all.
Quite different these days.
My innocent, totally innocent, friend was hauled down to Sydney CIB and interrogated and threatened.
They drive you there but they don't drive you back home the bastards.
Phish: I hope so. I'm aware I've left a couple of teaser posts hanging. It's not so much about a scene as some individual experiences.
Ann O'Dyne: None of what you described so vividly surprises me at all! Your friends were pioneers. It muyst have seemed very innocently hedonistic back then.
I'm jealous. I can't do drugs because my personality is too addictive. I'm sort of like that rat they put in the maze who gets rewarded with cocaine when he reaches the finish line.
50,000 fucking mazes solved, and yet there aren't enough mazes to support the habit which was created along the way.
Interesting idea. I look forward to it.
Shelly: Yes, I know what you mean. I can't gamble for the very same reason. I'm shit-scared I might take a liking to it!
Steph: Sorry for being a tease. Thansk for sticking with me. It'll be up soon.
blogs are addictive.
I am very frequently inspired to log on when I need distraction from the non-pixel world ...
and hours later ...
Helena: I know what you mean. I trawl for hours when I'm in the mood. Just one more....
