He suited Murray to the ground and Mick Molloy as the 'politician' in both movies was great.
I agree with Tony T, my favourite was Lady in the Lake.JahTehhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02007730071564639411noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3516373623794860572.post-89245725333038337182010-08-09T21:19:16.873+10:002010-08-09T21:19:16.873+10:00EB:

It will never date.

AOD:
I was so glad Marlowe found love with Linda Loring in Playback, the last complete novel. With Hollywood cranking out so many remakes in recent years, why not Chandler?Lad Litterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17888240712204499841noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3516373623794860572.post-54444155827459559072010-08-03T22:35:27.193+10:002010-08-03T22:35:27.193+10:00God I love Chandler.
Maloney's OK too.

I'm very keen on all of those ones you've identified as favourites - particularly Double Indemnity - the film he scripted from thr James M Cain novel. The Long Goodbye is the novel for me and Murder My Sweet the movie.

Lorna:
Why, thank you. There's a cynical nobility (if that's not a contradicion in terms!) about the Marlowe character.Lad Litterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17888240712204499841noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3516373623794860572.post-10005281621283750422010-07-31T17:02:39.904+10:002010-07-31T17:02:39.904+10:00I feel like taking up smoking and drinking whiskey...I feel like taking up smoking and drinking whiskey after reading that.Louise Bowershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09195475557282191490noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3516373623794860572.post-63030033824246282152010-07-31T06:51:40.189+10:002010-07-31T06:51:40.189+10:00No, but I *loved* reading it!No, but I *loved* reading it!Kath Locketthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09677312773827236567noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3516373623794860572.post-57792666915165015712010-07-30T08:45:07.762+10:002010-07-30T08:45:07.762+10:00I read all the Chandler books one after the other ...I read all the Chandler books one after the other in 1993. Apart from the first, say, 10 Patrick O'Brian books, I don't think I've enjoyed any books as much since then. Oddly enough, the one that sticks in my mind most is not Farewell My Lovely, The Big Sleep or The Long Goodbye, it's The Lady in the Lake. For the record: the two Chandler fillums I like best are The Long Goodbye (Elliott Gould as Marlowe) and Double Indemnity. "His name was Jackson. Probably still is."Tony.Thttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09568222786360226613noreply@blogger.com
